Diablo 3 User Interface

Another anticipatin' game comin' from Blizzard in edition to Starcraft II is Diablo 3. Again the last game; Diablo 2 was a well known game many years ago, probably 8-10 years ago, a game playable on a system with 800Mhz CPU speed, that's the system i'm using that time.

With new technology available today who wouldn't wanna play the next Diablo with better graphics and effects? I've seen the demo which is great even in an early stange of development.

And today we got some screen shots that shows the UI (User Interface)
Lookin' good

Very colorful design

Colorful which reminds some of you with World Of Warcraft
Some of the hardcore Diablo fans don't like the fact that it's design with a wide variety of colors and they made it even brighter than the previous Diablo series, well of course that time World of Warcraft doesn't exist yet, after WoW the design evolve, which I don't really care, as long as the game is great to play.

Some talented fans even go to the extent of modifying the color tone that shows what fans think Diablo 3 should look like. Here's some example (Click for larger version)

I agree that the fan modified version looks more like the previous Diablo, the dark/black theme that makes the game special, with the new colorful design, they are complanin that it looks like WoW more, the developers have seen the picture above and did commented on them, saying that it looks great but with those colors it's hard for them to incorporate into it's engine, don't know what that means. Release date has not been set yet, so we'll have to wait and see after it does.

For those that haven't seen the trailer yet or maybe don't know what's Diablo all about, here's a trailer for you.

Penang free WiFi in effect?

As you all heard about the free Wifi implementation across Penang. I don't really know what's the status at this point and who will be providing this service for us. Information started to show up about this free service and here's some info (not tested myself) about how to use this service.

Before we go any further there's of course such question as where? You guessed right as this service is not available everywhere in Penang yet. Since mentioned about less than a year ago by Penang's Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng about Wireless in Penang, earlier this year we see wireless service started to take off with WIMAX; a wireless broadband internet service, which was tested and shown that it was fast, but you pay a premium for it, not that much compare to Streamyx, I bet not everyone mind to switch over to somethin' new and stable .. for now.
Pretty scarce at the moment

With WIMAX soon to cover everywhere in Penang, that's just the beginnin'. As far as I know to use this service you need a special modem from them and the plan & packages doesn't look that tempting yet, now lets get back to our main topic, Penang Free WiFi.

Considered the first wave of many free wireless internet broadband to come, REDtone-HotGate seems to be the first. And again it's scarce; Komtar, Penang Road, Chulia Street, Bukit Jambul as rumored. Once you're there at the designated hotspot, with your wireless adapter, search for available wireless network and you'll find one called "Penang Free WiFi"; once connected to it, open your browser and you'll start connection to the Penang Free WiFi Registration page where you login (if you're already registered) or signup for a new account to use this service, is that simple. That's all I know for now, and there's another project called MyBroadband Penang WiFi, which I don't know about yet.

So that's just the beginnin' we'll see how it played out once more hotspot are available throughout Penang. More info can be found @ limguaneng.com

Malaysia's iPhone 3G is here

So the iPhone will official be available in Malaysia on 20th March 2009, those who waited for this phone will finally get their hands on one, and legally. The launch will happen at KL Convention Centre, I wonder if Penang will do the same..

And it seems like Apple in Malaysia will follow the footsteps of all Apple around the world by adapting the "only one network" phone, well...they are all Apple anyway.

12 Month Plan

It all started in the US where AT&T is the only network you can use when purchasin' an iPhone, of course if you ask me, this is one stupid method to sell a phone, there's no freedom of choosin' what network you wanna use or have. Canada and the UK follow this idea and now Maxis from Malaysia has this privilege, hmm makes me proud havin' a Maxis number, but again I feel this is a bad idea, with all the jailbreaking happening all around the world, don't they learn anythin from that?

24 Month Plan

In case you're wonderin' what Jailbreak (no, it's not like Prison Break), it's cracking/hackin' the phone so that it can be used on different network other than the one they provided. But i heard that Jailbreaking will void your warranty with them, so it's one risky proposition.

6 Month Plan

But then again, you still have to subscribe to Maxis to get this phone I believe, so far from what i've seen, minimum is 6 months contract, and i'm not really sure but just by a glance; it seems that the higher the monthly fee you are payin them, the cheaper the phone. There's one i noticed; for the 2 year contract, the iphone 8GB version will be free, but you'll have to stick with them for 2 years paying RM375 per month, that's like RM9k for 2 years, basically the price of the phone varies depending on what plan you subscribe to. This is insane, i'm a prepaid user i guess this type of plans make me cringe, probably alright with postpaid clan.

Hmm I wonder Jailbreaking it will allow me to use it with prepaid....

Adobe Reader 9.1 fix critical vulnerability

For those of you who still uses Adobe Reader to view all your PDF format files, just so you'll know, there's a new version out now; version 9.1. I recommend you update your Reader or if you have the full Adobe Acrobat version; update that too, this effects both the free Adobe Reader and full Adobe Acrobat versions, what do I mean by effect?

There seems to be a vulnerability found on those Adobe products below version 9.1 i assume; which allow hackers to exploit, I guess we heard this all the time, but this bug has already been around for 2 months without any fix, so hackers might already been exploitin' it, which in turn classify this update as a 0-day patch; I believe that means, there's no time to waste, update it NOW! hmm

I've personally stop using Adobe Reader for a long time, ever since I found Foxit Reader, another free PDF reader which I found much snappier and smaller compare to the original Adobe Reader, for a high end computer maybe that's not a problem but for the moderate and below, I recommend Foxit Reader.

I've been using it for years and found no serious problems with it, if all you do it to open PDF files, you should use it; and maybe do a little gettin' use to if you're with Adobe for a long time; overall it's just similar, for me what else I need to know other than zoom-in, zoom-out, scroll up and down, next page, previous page :) So why the need for the bigger resources hogging Adobe Reader when you can get somethin' smaller and simple, but that's just me, try it, you might like it.

Fast & Furious next month!

Before lookin farther to the next upcoming movie, looks like i've overlooked the next big movie which is due April this year, looks like we're gonna get another Fast And Furious movie, hmm base on my knowledge, this is the 4th of the franchise.

Looks like all 4 of the original cast members of the first movie is back, if you watch the 3rd one a.k.a Tokyo Drift, you knew that there's gonna be a 4th one, Vin Diesel's character appear at the end of the movie is that indication. So what will this movie plot be.. we'll see. So for now, let your eyes feast on the trailer.

UPDATED: 06 March 2009

A new and seemingly the final trailer before showtime has appeared online! Trailer available here

Another anticipatin' movie is coming our way next month. If you didn't know after the 3 X-Men movies, there's a spin-off in the works, mainly to focus on Wolverine's character called X-Men Origins: Wolverine, starrin' of course Hugh Jackman.

Of course what excite fans the most is the characters that are gonna be present in this movie, one of which i'm sure is the character called Gambit, fans were hopin' that Gambit will appear on at least one of the first 3 movies, but hopes were shot down.

I have to agree is one of the main big characters in the X-Men world, i've seen him all the time in X-Men cartoons... :x You can find more details about him at Wikipedia. All I know about him is that he is a card wielding man that shouts 'Trick cards' & 'Genetic cards' in the Marvel arcade games :x And yes the good news has finally arrive, Gambit is indeed in this movie!

Are you ready for Salvation?

Arnold Schwarzenegger is all that comes into my mind when the word Terminator is mentioned. When a Terminator robot was sent back in time to kill the mother of the future leader for mankind; John Connor, the human resistance from the future also sent back Kyle Reese back to protect her, and weirdly he was the father of John Connor...John will not exist if he didn't send his father to protect his mother in the past, if he doesn't exist how could he send his father hmmm mind bogglin'; hmm one of those "What comes first, Chicken or Egg" moments, but it was a great film! :)
Here's some posters and banners

Then Terminator 2: Judgment Day comes in, one of the best action movies i've ever seen, you have the same Terminator a.k.a Hasta La Vista Arnold now sent back to protect John Connor who is around 12 years old. And another Terminator to kill John Connor, now that one is a bad ass called T-1000; liquid metal baby!

Trailer 3

And Terminator 3 was just mediocre, a female terminator is send back to kill him this time, so all this time it was a story about protecting the leader of the human resistance and preventin' judgment day in the future, but in the end it's clear that judgment day was inevitable.

Trailer 2

So now we have Terminator Salvation a.k.a Terminator 4, after all those movies, how could I not watch this, it stars one of the hot risin stars of today Christian Bale as the adult John Connor in the future (the dude that sends his friend back to protect his mom and ends up bein his father); still mind bogglin..enjoy the teaser and trailer for the upcoming blockbuster showin' on May 21

Photoshop too expensive?

Click to go there now.

Photoshop has been around for many years and it's one of the top picture editing tool to date. It's so famous that any picture that looks fake it's always blamed on Adobe Photoshop. The downside is that it's too expensive, i guess that's what you get bein' too famous. People also settled for Window's Paint Brush, for simple editing, i guess there's no problem but who uses that.

As there is some evident that OS and programs are moving to the web cloud, everythin you do will be done online, nothin' is installed on your PC, sounds like there's gonna be pros and cons to this IMO. So for a useful program to be on a web, free to use without using expensive photo editing tool, Pixlr is great.

There's even an Add-On for Firefox for Pixlr. Base on the description and preview images, after the add-on is installed on your Firefox, you can easily edit an image you found on the web simply by right clicking on the image and select Edit with Pixlr, which adds more goodness to this great web app.

Click to go there now.

Looks really close to Adobe Photoshop too.

I haven't actually played with it, so go ahead and try it out, it's free!

Earth Hour

Source Making Memories

Earth Hour, an annual event participated by 77 countries and 680 cities worldwide to raise awareness of global warming and climate change. Vote against global warming and vote mother earth.

Find out more about Earth Hour

And here's a video about it.

Wouldn't it be cool if everyone just turn off the lights at the same time? Reminds me of the blackout we experienced before. Sometimes it's good to just get away from all those electrical stuff and just stand out in the darkness lookin' up the stars reflect on life since we are usually too busy to do so, you can bring sticks and rub it against eash other to build fire too, that's just the way it is when we were cavemen :D
