Malaysia's iPhone 3G is here
So the iPhone will official be available in Malaysia on 20th March 2009, those who waited for this phone will finally get their hands on one, and legally. The launch will happen at KL Convention Centre, I wonder if Penang will do the same..
And it seems like Apple in Malaysia will follow the footsteps of all Apple around the world by adapting the "only one network" phone, well...they are all Apple anyway.
It all started in the US where AT&T is the only network you can use when purchasin' an iPhone, of course if you ask me, this is one stupid method to sell a phone, there's no freedom of choosin' what network you wanna use or have. Canada and the UK follow this idea and now Maxis from Malaysia has this privilege, hmm makes me proud havin' a Maxis number, but again I feel this is a bad idea, with all the jailbreaking happening all around the world, don't they learn anythin from that?
In case you're wonderin' what Jailbreak (no, it's not like Prison Break), it's cracking/hackin' the phone so that it can be used on different network other than the one they provided. But i heard that Jailbreaking will void your warranty with them, so it's one risky proposition.
But then again, you still have to subscribe to Maxis to get this phone I believe, so far from what i've seen, minimum is 6 months contract, and i'm not really sure but just by a glance; it seems that the higher the monthly fee you are payin them, the cheaper the phone. There's one i noticed; for the 2 year contract, the iphone 8GB version will be free, but you'll have to stick with them for 2 years paying RM375 per month, that's like RM9k for 2 years, basically the price of the phone varies depending on what plan you subscribe to. This is insane, i'm a prepaid user i guess this type of plans make me cringe, probably alright with postpaid clan.
Hmm I wonder Jailbreaking it will allow me to use it with prepaid....

i agree 100% haha, what a leech, people would probably get somewhere else have it unlock and use with whatever network they choose.
